Get Your Mind Committed to Running

Hello there! If you saw in my post from last week (check it out here), then you know that last weekend, Ryan and I ran in the Wine and Dine Half Marathon.  We both set personal best records (Ryan ran it in 2:1o and I ran it in 2:44) which we are both super proud of! However, we are now on the down(up?)slope toward our full marathon in January which is mildly terrifying because it’s our first full ever! As I’ve talked about before (and most recently in that post from last week), running is a really mental thing meaning, if your mind isn’t committed, your body isn’t going to…

7 Tips for Training on Vacation

Hi friends! Ryan and I are back from our coast-to-coast travel adventures from California to Florida and back home to PA!  Though I’m happy to be home and sleeping in my own bed, I’m not super excited to go back to work and back to real life. But, I digress. While we were in Florida, we ran Disney’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon and the 10K.  However, while I was training for the half marathon, I’ve also been training for my very first full marathon which takes place in January. This 1/2 marathon gave me a huge amount of confidence in my abilities as a runner.  To give you some background: I was an athlete my entire life, playing different sports throughout…

5 Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me About Running

There are certain things you start and when you start these things, you’ve more or less gone into them blind.  When you really get into the thick of things, you inevitably learn things that you wish you had known before you started. I’ve had a lot of experiences like this throughout my time as a runner. Today I’m going to share with you what I wish someone had told me about running. 1. Running is a love/hate relationship I can tell you all day long why I love running.  However, I can also tell all day long why I hate running. I remember after Ryan and I ran the inaugural…

Marathon Training: Weekly Update – Week…

I’m not sure if you noticed but it’s been like two weeks since I’ve posted an update on marathon training… I fell off the wagon a little after I didn’t run in Texas because I was sick.  After giving it some thought, I have a theory about why I fell off the wagon.  The plan I had set up for training was 20 weeks long.  I think honestly for me, that was too large a commitment and it gave me far too much time to slack off…and I did. So I decided that I needed to make things easier for myself because well, that’s how I have to deal with…
