Get Your Mind Committed to Running

Hello there! If you saw in my post from last week (check it out here), then you know that last weekend, Ryan and I ran in the Wine and Dine Half Marathon.  We both set personal best records (Ryan ran it in 2:1o and I ran it in 2:44) which we are both super proud of! However, we are now on the down(up?)slope toward our full marathon in January which is mildly terrifying because it’s our first full ever! As I’ve talked about before (and most recently in that post from last week), running is a really mental thing meaning, if your mind isn’t committed, your body isn’t going to…

7 Tips for Training on Vacation

Hi friends! Ryan and I are back from our coast-to-coast travel adventures from California to Florida and back home to PA!  Though I’m happy to be home and sleeping in my own bed, I’m not super excited to go back to work and back to real life. But, I digress. While we were in Florida, we ran Disney’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon and the 10K.  However, while I was training for the half marathon, I’ve also been training for my very first full marathon which takes place in January. Marathon Training: Weekly Update – Week…

I’m not sure if you noticed but it’s been like two weeks since I’ve posted an update on marathon training… I fell off the wagon a little after I didn’t run in Texas because I was sick.  After giving it some thought, I have a theory about why I fell off the wagon.  The plan I had set up for training was 20 weeks long.  I think honestly for me, that was too large a commitment and it gave me far too much time to slack off…and I did. So I decided that I needed to make things easier for myself because well, that’s how I have to deal with…

Marathon Training: Weekly Update: Week 4

Monday: REST Tuesday: 4 miles Sooo it wasn’t the full 5 that I missed last week but I’m still really happy with the 4 miles I did do and I’m very proud of myself for doing them!  I changed up my route and stopped by a park that’s on my way home from work.  I had never run here before and it’s almost exactly 4 miles around.  It was really nice to get out of my neighborhood and change things up.  It was a well needed change! Wednesday: 2 miles Ugh let’s talk about HOT! I decided to use my longer lunch break to run 2 miles at a park nearby (the…

Marathon Training: Weekly Update – Week 3

Monday: REST Tuesday: REST Wednesday: 2 miles I actually felt pretty good about these 2 miles.  I did the first mile in 10:33 and the second in 10:45.  I’m still really happy with the pace I’m keeping.  I’m still really just kind of setting a baseline for myself before I can start speed training.  My goal is still to do my half marathon in the Fall in 2 hours and then my marathon in around 4 hours so the speed training will come for sure but for now, I’m setting a baseline for myself and honestly, considering this is still only my 3rd week of training, I’m still making running…
